digital detox
Hey guys,
so like any other person, I spend a lot of time on my phone endlessly scrolling through my social media feed or bingeing Netflix shows. (Like I have all the time in the world.) In reality, I don't. I have about a million things to do but I always end up on my phone. I can't even remember the last time I had 7 hours of sleep or a genuine conversation with a friend. I am so so ADDICTED.
That is the truth and I need to make some changes because right now, I don't know what my life is anymore. So yes, the logical thing for me to do is take a break from social media and technology in general. I don't want to set myself unrealistic goals but during my digital detox break, I want to accomplish 5 things. (see the list below)
1 SLEEP
The first thing is obviously to get enough sleep since I rarely get the required amount of sleep. Also, I want to have a fixed routine. for example, I want to go to bed at x time to allow me to get 7-8 hours of sleep and wake up 5am, pray Fajr, have time to reflect and have breakfast before my day starts.
2 INTERACT
secondly, I really need human interaction. Right now, I have ZERO social skills and I always blame this on my anxiety but I can't keep on blaming. I need to try my best no matter how hard it is. The first place to start is within my house so I intend to interact with my family and friends but also have genuine conversations with random strangers and just have a good time.
3 PERSONAL PROJECTS
Thirdly, I want to continue working on my personal projects whether it is writing scripts/ideas, taking pictures/ making art. I want to continue working on my mini personal projects and keep writing because sometimes I have so many ideas and I think it is just cool to challenge yourself creatively.

4 EXPLORE
Above all, I want to go out more often whether it is to the park, museum or even the library. I also hope to meet others and since spring is around the corner, I will probably spend a lot of time at the park, get fresh air and sunlight.
5 READ MORE
The fifth and final thing I want to do is to read more because reading is the new cool folks. So, I want to educate myself because there're so many things that I don't know and ignorance is not an option when I have so many resources. I also want to read fictional books because sometimes it just feels good to escape reality and on the other hand, it gives me a whole new world where there is no limit to my imagination.
How?
So, things don't obviously change overnight but to get started I am going to delete all my social media apps (Instagram, Twitter, and even WhatsApp). Secondly, I am going to start using an app called FOREST to manage my time and control my spending. I will use my camera and laptop if I need to check my emails or write something. Lastly, I will have a monthly schedule and have a time for doing things and a time for relaxing.
I hope this works for me and if you are like me, you can try to take a break from social media and technology in general. it is saddening to see how we are so glued to our phones and ignore our needs and the needs of our family and friends at times. It is time to say enough is enough. It is time to pay close attention and observe. It is time to live a good old life.

I really need to take a break from the Internet as well. I don't have a plan right now, but I will definitely try something. Thanks for this.
