Labels | my honest opinion

Every con has its pros and vice versa, BUT, I believe that labelling does more harm than good. We all label ourselves in one way or another and we do this to fit in, to feel like we belong somewhere or to even hide our true identity. At the same time, we also label others based on the apparent characteristics they reveal to us and we believe that assumption rather than what is the truth. This doesn't only make the labelee a bad person but it also impacts the labelled individual.

The first time someone called me a terrorist, I was so out of it, I was shocked and confused and it did really hurt but the second time, my reaction was different and by the third time I was like "whatever" and I didn't even try to defend myself because that accusation was solely based on nothing but assumption. However, people are different and if you put someone else in my place, they might actually build an interest and start acting on it. And this messes up people real bad because it is annoying and being labelled as XYZ when you are not XYZ is truly hurtful.

SO yes, labeling is crucial for our survival and existence...But I think people should just be accepted for who they are. As humans, we are far more complex and we can simply not live by labels because they are limitation to what we are capable of. The more we continue to label ourselves and others, the more we become segregated and un-unified. You either belong to this party or that, you are either this or that when you should both be this and that and whatever that is in between. You should be whole.
Nothing makes you less of a whole person...not your mental illness not your religion, sexuality, race, gender skin colour, your accent, your habits. Nothing.
Embrace yourself, God made you whole.
